Where are Mojosurf’s surf camps?

We run surf camps in three countries: Spot X (Arrawarra) and Byron Bay on the NSW coast of Australia; Canggu, Nusa Lembongan, Lombok and Red Island across Bali & Beyond in Indonesia; and Ericeira and Peniche in Portugal.

Do I need to have surfed before?

No. Our surf lessons, camps and adventures are made for beginner and intermediate surfers. We take you to learn-to-surf beaches and waves chosen for your level, with our qualified instructors.

Which camp suits a beginner?

The Surf & Stay trips at Spot X, Byron Bay and Canggu are listed for beginner to intermediate surfers. Every trip page shows the level it suits.

How much does a surf camp cost?

Can I get to Spot X from Sydney?

Yes. The 6 Day Great Aussie Adventure (from A$1,129) includes your transfers between Sydney and Spot X, with departures from Sydney every Sunday and Wednesday. See our surf camp from Sydney page.

I can’t swim, can I still surf?

You are supervised at all times, but you do need to be able to swim 50m unaided to participate in surfing.

I’m a big girl/guy, can I still surf?

Yes. We cater for all shapes and sizes, with wetsuits and boards suitable for XXXS to XXXL.

How long are the surf trips?

Surf lessons run for 1–4 days, surf camps and adventures for 3–18 days, and the Surf Academy for 1, 2 or 3 months.

What do I need to bring?

Good vibes, a big appetite, towels (we recommend two: one for the beach and one for the shower), swimmers, a hat and sunscreen, a torch, a camera and party funds.

How do I make a booking?

When is the best time to surf?

There are waves all year at every camp. The season decides how big the waves are and how warm the water is. Here’s the short version from our surf guides.

How to get to our surf camps

Australia

Sydney to Spot X: Transfers are included on the 6 Day Great Aussie Adventure, leaving Sydney every Sunday and Wednesday.
Spot X, Arrawarra: Nearest airport: Coffs Harbour, about 25 km south.
Byron Bay: Ballina Byron Gateway airport is about 30 minutes away. Gold Coast airport is about 65 km and Brisbane about 165 km.

Bali & Indonesia

Canggu: 45 minutes to an hour by road from Ngurah Rai airport (Denpasar), depending on traffic.
Nusa Lembongan: Fast boat from Sanur, about 30 to 45 minutes.
Kuta Lombok: About 40 minutes by air from Bali, or by fast boat. Lombok airport is 20 to 30 minutes from Kuta.
Red Island, Java: By road and the Gilimanuk to Ketapang ferry, about seven hours from Canggu.

Portugal

Lisbon to Ericeira: About 45 minutes by car on the A8, or about an hour to an hour and a half by bus from Campo Grande.
Lisbon to Peniche and Baleal: About 1 h 10 min by car, or about an hour and a half by Rede Expressos bus from Sete Rios. Our hostel is in Baleal, a short taxi ride from Peniche bus station.
