Surf lessons for beginners and improving surfers
Mojosurf has taught people to surf since 1998. Our lessons focus on 5 key areas to have you up and surfing with confidence and style, and we coach all levels of surfer, from beginner to advanced.
Mojosurf has been teaching people to surf since 1998. In Australia you can learn to surf with us on the New South Wales coast, at Byron Bay and at our beachfront Spot X surf camp at Arrawarra. Pick a single lesson, a few days of surf and stay, or a Surf Academy course of up to 3 months. Equipment is provided for your lessons on every option below.
Prices are in Australian dollars and per person, except private lessons, which are priced per lesson. All equipment is provided during lessons.
Our surf lessons in Byron Bay include pick-up and transport to the beach (and return) and all equipment during lessons. Choose a half day lesson or a 2, 3, 4 or 5 day progressive package. We pick from plenty of beaches around Lennox Head and Ballina, with one coach to every eight surfers. Anyone under 15 needs a private surf lesson from Byron Bay.
At our beachfront Spot X surf camp, Surf and Stay Spot X runs from 3 to 8 days with a surf lesson for every night you stay, plus breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lessons start daily around 7:30am and run for 2 to 3 hours. The 6 Day Great Aussie Adventure adds transfers from Sydney, Byron Bay or Brisbane, with five nights and five lessons at Spot X.
In Byron, Byron Bay Surf and Stay Package combines 3 to 8 days at our Byron Bay surf camp at the Arts Factory Lodge, a 10-minute walk from town, with 2 to 7 lessons, transport to and from the surf and all equipment.
Want to get properly good? The Surf Academy at Spot X has a 90 to 105 minute surf lesson every weekday, surf theory and fitness or yoga sessions. Choose the 14 Day Surf Academy Taster, the 1 Month Surf Academy, the 2 Month Surf Academy or the 3 Month Surf Instructor Course Australia, which has the option to earn your ASI Level 1 Surf Coach certification (additional fee applies). Mojosurf fully qualified instructors have level one beginner and level two advanced coaching qualifications to ensure you surf at your best. Our instructors are in the water with you assisting every step of the way. Mojosurf also use photo and video analysis to help you see where your surfing is at.
The search for good times and new experiences is what the Mojosurf lifestyle is all about. We pick the beach each day to suit your ability and the conditions. As we are mobile, we can be flexible and go where the surf is best.

Anybody can surf. With a wide range of boards and wetsuits, we give you the right equipment for your level, all provided during your lessons. We use specially designed equipment to aid the learning process, and make ya look cool while ya doing it.
Surf safety and ocean awareness are our highest priorities, and our instructors will make sure you are well trained in both. No experience is required, but you do need to be able to swim 50 metres unaided.

Whether you are looking for a surf lesson, a surf holiday or a Surf Academy course, Mojosurf has a range to suit you. We’ve been running surf lessons and camps since 1998, and we look after you from the time you contact us through to catching your last wave.
We supply learner boards and wetsuits for all our lessons. As you progress, we can also supply more advanced boards for intermediate surfers.
Our Spot X surf camp is clean, comfortable and has direct beach access. Mojosurf brings you the real experience of living right on the beach. Cruise down to the beach at your leisure for surfing, sunbaking or soaking up the beach atmosphere and culture.
The Mojosurf culture is a totally unique experience. The beach parties, the road trips, beautiful remote beachside locations, crazy characters, and of course the surfing!
At Mojosurf we love to celebrate, so round the campfire or on the beach every night is a Saturday night! You’ll make friends with other travellers from all around the world who are looking for an adventure of a lifetime.
