I was a little hesitant to sign up for a full month since I've never surfed before, but I ended up loving it. I wish I could have stayed longer! Everyone was very welcoming and friendly and I learned so much from the surfing instructors in my short time there. I'll definetly be back!

Came here while travelling with my friend Hanna! I had surfed a few times before but after the academy i feel like i progressed a lot. I really liked the surflessons each morning because theres no one else in the water and the conditions are always the best then. The instructors talk about the conditions and then there is some theory about the ocean or manoeuvres that you focus on that day. Everything together makes you feel more comfortable in the water and improved my surfing a lot. I loved the people in academy, it felt like a little family! One day I will come back:)

Where are Mojosurf’s surf camps in Australia?

There are two camps in NSW, both between Sydney and Brisbane: the beachfront Spot X surf camp at Arrawarra, north of Coffs Harbour, and the Byron Bay surf camp at the Arts Factory Lodge, a 10-minute walk from town.

Yes. Spot X has a variety of breaks to suit the absolute beginner through to intermediate and advanced surfers, with instructors in the water with you. In Byron Bay, your Mojo Guide takes your group to the beaches where the waves are ideal for learning to surf.

What is the accommodation like?

At Spot X you stay in 2–4 share dorm cabins or 4 share tipis with bedding included. In Byron Bay you stay in shared mixed dorm accommodation at the Arts Factory Lodge. Upgrades are subject to availability at both camps.

When is the best time to surf in NSW?

You can surf both camps all year. Autumn is usually a favourite on this coast, and April is regarded as prime time at Arrawarra. Summer has the warmest water and generally smaller surf, and winter brings the most swell, often with offshore winds in the morning. See the season table in our Byron Bay surf guide.
