Surf Trips for Australians
Bali is a short flight away. Surf Canggu, Lombok, Nusa Lembongan and Red Island, or stay closer to home at Spot X and Byron Bay.
Why Australians surf with Mojosurf
We’ve been running surf camps on the New South Wales coast since 1998, and Australians are our second-biggest market for Bali & Beyond trips booked online. Our Indonesian camps are run by the same crew, with the same focus on lessons, safety and a good time.
- Surf camps and lessons since 1998, in 8 camps across Australia, Indonesia and Portugal
- Bali trips with lessons and boards included
- A social crew, so you can come solo or bring your mates
Short on time? Surf closer to home
Spot X at Arrawarra and our Byron Bay camp run Surf & Stay trips of a few days, ideal for a long weekend or the school holidays. Want more? The Surf Academy at Spot X runs for 2 weeks to 3 months.
Surf camps in Bali & Beyond
Four camps across Indonesia: Canggu in Bali for cafés, beach clubs and nightlife, Nusa Lembongan a short boat ride away for clear water and diving, Kuta Lombok for an island east of Bali with dramatic scenery and varied breaks, and Red Island in East Java for uncrowded waves. Join one camp, or combine Canggu, Red Island and Nusa Lembongan on the 15 Day Island Hopper.
Surf camps in Portugal
Two camps on Portugal’s west coast. Ericeira is a World Surfing Reserve with the camp close to the town centre and its famous breaks. Peniche sits in Baleal, steps from the sand, on a stretch of coast with consistent waves all year.
Surf camps in Australia
Two camps on the New South Wales coast. Spot X sits on the beach at Arrawarra, in a marine park north of Coffs Harbour, with meals, cabins and tipis, and bonfire nights. Byron Bay is at the Arts Factory Lodge, a 10-minute walk from town, with a pool and hammocks. Both run learn-to-surf trips with lessons and boards included.
Surf Academy: a gap year on the waves
Stay for 2 weeks to 3 months, surf every day and get coached properly. The Surf Academy runs at Spot X in Australia and in Indonesia, and the 3 month courses work towards a surf instructor qualification. Not sure yet? Start with the 14 Day Surf Academy Taster.
Planning your trip from Australia
- Bali: direct flights from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. Australians can get a visa on arrival or e-VOA for a 30-day stay, and Bali charges a separate tourist levy.
- Portugal: Australians can visit the Schengen area without a visa for short stays. Fly into Lisbon; Ericeira is under an hour away and Peniche a little further.
- When to go: Bali’s dry season runs from about April to October, with offshore winds on the west coast. Portugal is best from autumn to spring, our spring and summer.
