Mojo Care 29 Day Volunteer Adventure Trip C is 4 weeks of travel primarily in Pulau Merah (Red Island in Banyuwangi, East Java) in a secluded, beautiful bay surrounded by mountains, beaches and national parks. This is the base from which you will travel to surrounding islands, visit the local Turtle Rescue Hatchery by 4WD, help the locals with Beach Clean ups and teach the local kids a few english lessons. On this epic tour you will also visit Lombok, Nusa Lembongan and Canggu, Bali visiting some of the best sights, learning to surf and snorkelling with Manta Rays. This is the ideal trip for giving back to the world whilst travelling.

MOJOSURF SUSTAINABLE TRIP C

The Mojo Care 29 Day Volunteer Adventure Trip C combines Trip A and Trip B for a longer time spent on this awesome sustainable tour with Mojosurf. Based primarily at Red Island, Java, this remote island paradise gives you the opportunity to combine travel and your love of surfing with helping the local community with beach clean ups, teaching kids English and supporting the local turtle sanctuary. This trip is ideal for those learning to surf for the first time or for the experienced surfer who wants to give back to the amazing communities they surf in.

The trip begins in Canggu, Bali with a tour to Ubud and a How to Give English Lessons workshop. The first part of the trip gives you a chance to participate in local community programs with the second part of the trip giving your time to relax and enjoy a choice of activities including learning to surf and swimming with giant Manta Rays.

All accommodation is included with your travel adventure starting at Mojosurf Camp Canggu before heading to the remote Red Island in Java where you will stay at Mojosurf Red Island Surf Camp. The remote Red Island will be your base for the next few weeks where you will travel to Ijen volcano and stay overnight at the guesthouse for the following morning hike, visit the Turtle Sanctuary by 4WD and stay at Sukamade Guesthouse and go on a tour to Mt Bromo and stay at Cafe Lava Hostel.

At Red Island you will get involved with community projects, beach clean-ups and teach English to the local children. The tour will then head back to Bali and travel by fast boat to the islands of Lombok and Nusa Lembongan for your flexible tour options. See itinerary for further detail.

  1. Day 1 Canggu, Bali

    Departs 1st Thursday of every month

    Arrive Bali – Transfer to Canggu Accommodation – private airport pick-up is included for Mojosurf pax through the day, as well as local accommodation pickups in the Kuta/Canggu area.   2. Day 2 Day trip to Ubud, English Lessons Workshop

    08:00 Breakfast & How to Give English Lessons workshop – Volunteer training workshops -> How To Give English Lessons – hosted by the ORCA guide. This is activity is to get us on track for our time in Pulau Merah aka Red Island! 10:30 Depart for Ubud Day Trip Ubud Day trip with visits to Tegalalang Rice Terrace, Kintmani village, plus views Batur and Lake Batur 18:00 Dinner in Ubud @ Local Warung 19:00 Return to Mojosurf Camp Canggu Accommodation Meals- B/L/D

  3. Day 3 Surf, Transfer to Red Island Camp

    08:00 Early morning surf, then enjoy a quick cooked breakfast Mid-morning transfer to Pulau Merah (Red Island) We’ll be taking a packed lunch for the drive, and stopping along the way. At the mid-point of the trip we have a ferry transfer from Bali->East Java. Most ferries have snacks available onboard. If you’re hungry, just let us know and we’ll stop at any of the amazing warungs (small café/shops) along the way! 16:00 Arrive Red Island & Check-In to your accommodation! 17:00 Community meeting – Meet with local community members, and learn more about the true local culture. 18:00 Community Dinner – Dinner off-site in local Warung (Restaurant).   4. Day 4 English Training, Local Village Tour

    09:00 Volunteer training -> Continuing English Language Training: Identifying student strengths + weaknesses. This is run by ORCA guides and accredited TEFL teacher 11:00 Local Village Tour -> Head out for a guided walk around the accommodation, and learn about the local businesses. We’ll point out all the basics you need to be super comfortable over the next few weeks such as the grocery store and clothing shops. We’ll also grab a fresh coconut or two to drink along the way! 16:00 English Lessons w/ Students at Mojosurf Red Island Camp. All English Lessons will be approximately 1.5-2hrs in duration. On the first day – expect to learn some of the local language! Your Orca Program Leader is with you the whole time for support. Meals – B/L/D Accomm – Mojosurf Camp Red Island

  5. Day 5 Kalibaru Coffee Plantation and Badeng Adventure Park

    9:00 Depart Red Island after breakfast for Kalibaru Coffee Plantation w/ Sampling. We’ll learn about local farming techniques, types of coffee, the importance of soil and much more. Local business is good business! After the tour we’ll find a comfortable place nearby to have some lunch (included in the day). 13:00 After Lunch, hop onto the transfer for Songgon at Badeng Adventure Park Rafting for a half day paddle down the river. If you’re not the strongest paddler, don’t worry! The river does most of the work. 14:30 Arrive Songgon at Badeng Adventure Park, and begin the adventure! 17:00 Rafting ends, Private Van Transfer to Ijen Volcano Accommodation (5pm, early dinner and sleep) 18:30 Arrive at Ijen Volcano Hike Accommodation Meals – B/L/D Accomm – Guest House accommodation – typically two per room. Wifi access available at accommodation.

  6. Day 6 Mount Ijen Hike

    01:00 Early Start – Transfer from accomm for hike up Mount Ijen 02:30 Arrive at Mount Ijen We’re not going to lie to you here – this is a pretty hard uphill hike. It takes a couple hours of uphill walking, but at the top we’re potentially greeted by an amazing light show. 07:00 Return to base of Mt. Ijen 07:30 Return to Hostel for Breakfast & a quick nap if needed, or explore the area 11:00 Check out of Hostel, Board transfer to Red Island 14:00 Return to Red Island for Lunch Free Afternoon – Activities available such as surf, free time, village work, hike. Some at an extra cost. 18:00 After dinner, English Lessons w/ Students. Lessons are at Red Island Surf Camp. Program leader will be present at all lessons to ensure volunteers have support.   7. Day 7 Turtle Sanctuary Tour

    9:00 Free Morning 13:00 Depart for Turtle Sanctuary Tour in the Sukamade Beach 4 wheel drives. Approx. 6 people per vehicle. We will split up into two vehicles if numbers are more than 6 – don’t worry though! If we’re taking 2 vehicles, 1 will have the ORCA guide, and another will have a familiar face (Surf Instructor or other staff member) from the camp! 17:00 Arrive Turtle Sanctuary **Overnight at sanctuary – Day Includes 4 wheel drive tour/transfers, Warung meals, and guesthouse accommodation. Wifi access is limited – some mobile phone companies will have reception, but some please consider this day as mostly “Off The Grid.” ORCA staff will have access to phonelines in case of emergency. Meals – B/L/D Accommodation at Sukamade Guesthouse (2-4 pax per room)

  8. Day 8 Turtle Conservation, Transfer Back to Red Island

    04:00 Turtle Sanctuary Viewing – Wake up early to meet with the rangers who will update you on the amazing conservation work they’re doing to help the threatened Sea Turtle. You can view turtles on beach before sunrise (Watch for turtle hatchings! It’s nature so there is no gurantee but very common to see them).   12. Day 12 Group Beach Clean Up

  13. Day 13 Lost Paradise Beach, Island Snorkelling

    09:00 Breakfast 10:00 Depart for Lost Paradise Beach and Island Snorkelling after breakfast. Today is primarily spent away from the camp, and there’s not many facilities around. We’ll be back before dinner and provide an awesome lunch – but please bring lots of snacks and water! We’re headed out for a short 45 minute boat trip to a secluded bay. We’ll have the chance to swim, snorkel, and explore the area. Meals – B/L/D Accommodation – Mojosurf Camp Red Island

  14. Day 14 Community Beach Clean Up

    09:00 After breakfast the volunteers will meet with the program leader for an assessment on English Programs (Strengths/Weaknesses) and then on to a Community Beach Clean-up. The Red Island / Mojo staff will help recruit the community for this event. Afterwards, we’ll sort through all the plastic from today & day 12, and talk with the ORCA program leader about the materials found, alternative uses, and their impact on the future health of the planet. Mojosurf Camp Canggu

The Mojo Care 29 Day Volunteer Adventure Trip C begins in Canggu, Bali. On arrival you will have a welcome orientation where you will meet your Mojosurf Guide, Orca Team Leader and rest of the crew for your trip. Followed by welcome sunset dinner and drinks where you can relax and get to know the rest of your group. This tour stays at Mojosurf Camp Canggu, where you will be in the heart of all the action in Canggu close to shops and restaurants. The surf camp has a swimming pool and modern facilities with comfortable twin beds, hot water, air conditioning and Wi-Fi. enjoy a surf lesson before you leave for Red Island, Java

Red Island Surf Camp, Java

Mojosurf Camp Red Island  is right on the beach surrounded by tropical palm trees with plenty of areas to relax and explore. Here you will get to meet the local communities and where you will give your English Lessons to students. You will also go on a tour to G-Land including Monkey Forest and Temple Photography with animal viewing platform. From Red Island you will take a 4WD trip to the Turtle Sanctuary in Sukamade Beach to see the conservation work to help the threatened sea turtles. Whilst here you will stay at Sukamade Guesthouse with Warung meals included and limited Wi-Fi for an off grid experience.

4 WEEK PROGRAM

Mojosurf Camp Lombok

Spend 3 nights at Mojosurf Camp Lombok and decide to do a yoga class or surf lesson.  Whilst in Lombok your tour takes you to the local village to learn about the customs and traditions of the local Sasak people. Enjoy a morning surf by Outrigger to surf breaks or continue your yoga class with an afternoon Indonesian Cooking Lesson to finish off the day. The accommodation consists of  both shared and private bungalows, all fitted with air con, fans, and western-style amenities.

The Mojosurf Sustainable Trip C takes you to the beautiful island of Nusa Lembongan where you will get to do more surfing, go snorkelling with Manta Rays and visit a local recycling plant to see the work they are doing to keep the island beautiful for tourists. Mojosurf Camp Nusa Lembongan has shared and private room accommodation, all with modern facilities such as air con, comfortable beds and spectacular views of crystal clear water and white sandy beaches.
